My winter break was great. I had the opportunity to visit my family in Mexico. It had been five years without seeing my family. The sad part is that I was only there for two weeks, however, I enjoyed the time I spent with my loved ones. My sister-in-law made tostadas de desebrada, pozole, tamales, and many other foods that I missed. We all got together to celebrate Christmas. We never got together as a family and that is the reason why this Christmas was special for me. The day before New Year’s we went to Lago de Camecuaro National Park which is located in the city of Zamora de Hidalgo in the municipality of Tangancicuaro in the state of Michoacan. We rented a boat for six hours, I can’t deny that I was scared but it has been one of the funnest things I have done. We also spent New Year’s together and we played some boards game. I never really cared what we did. What I cared about was spending my time with the people that I love the most.
The first semester of my senior year was probably the best semester of all. There are things that I loved and regret about it. The first thing that I regret is not taking more AP classes. I also regret not doing more level fours for my current classes. However, I had the highest GPA out of all the past semesters, which made me really happy and excited. Due to the fact that I had a high GPA I increased my rank and I also received a lot of money for my REAP scholarship. More importantly, I made new friends and started being more confident as a student and as a individual.
The reality that this is my last semester in high school has hit me. I still remember when I was a freshmen. As a freshmen, I thought that I had time to goof-off and I also saw high school as joke because I thought that I was gonna be here for many years. I was here for many years, to be exact, four years, but, it didn’t feel like it. Time went by so fast and I am now graduating in less than four months. I’m ready to graduate but I wish I enjoyed my high school years more than I did and participated as much as I could.
Even though I’m ready for graduation I still need to accomplish many things either for high school or college. Many of things that I still need to accomplish will be done in a couple of weeks. I have to do my exit interview in two weeks. In that same week I have to go take my English placement test. In May I will be taking my AP exams and hopefully I’ll be done with my AP courses before taking the exams. I also have to finish my classes before June so I can graduate.
I got acceptance letters from all the universities I applied to. I’ve been thinking about going either to Sacramento or Fresno State. These two colleges are well-known for their teaching programs. I’m most likely going to go to Fresno State because it’s closer.
