Many things have changed since my last journal entry. First, I got a 2-hour job after school at Kennedy Elementary School. The job is good because I get paid and I gain experience for the future since I want to become a teacher. However, ever since I started working, school has been getting harder because I have more homework and less time to do it. Sometimes I have to retake quizzes that I didn’t pass and I don’t have a chance to take them after school which gets me a little behind. I’ve also applied to four universities. I’ve been accepted to three of them, Fresno State, Bakersfield, and Stanislaus. The last university I hope to hear from is Sacramento State
Applying to universities, scholarships, and sending information has taken away much of my time but I feel like I’m doing better in my classes. I’m on pace and I’m currently working on doing my level 4s. There are some assignments that I still haven’t completed but will get caught up on Thanksgiving break. My goals before the end of the semester are to pass all of my classes and have all of my level 4s completed in order to increase my GPA.
Some of the difficulties that I’m having with my senior project is that I don’t have many of the things done. Last year I had a teacher that didn’t make us do any work and never told us what to do. I also didn’t take the time to go ask for help. I’ve been fixing my website and adding some things but I still have a lot of work to do. Some things that I enjoy about my senior year are the activities, spending time with friends, getting to know more people, and gaining new experiences. I also enjoy the freedom that we have as seniors and preparing for my graduation. Probably the most exciting thing for me is graduating. Because this is the most important and stressful process I’ve taken some steps to prepare me for my post-graduation life. These steps are: getting familiar with the outside world, starting my resume, looking for good references when applying for a job, becoming familiar with work, having my outfits ready for further interviews, and applying to universities and scholarships. I’ve been able to do these preparations for my post-graduation by receiving support from my family, teachers, friends, and co-workers. My mom doesn’t really like the idea of me going away from her because I’m the youngest child but she’s been getting used to the idea and so far she has supported me with every decision I make. Most of my friends are going to COS but have encouraged me to follow my dreams and reach my goals. My teachers have been a big support, especially Mr. Gutierrez. He convinced me to apply to CSU’s and has helped me all the way. I have other teachers who have written letters of recommendation for me and have showed me that they’re proud of the person I am today and want to become.
